Renting a home in Uzbekistan? Here's how to protect your rights.
  • Get it in writing: Always sign a formal rental agreement (valid for up to 5 years).
  • Register it online: Use the official portal ijara.soliq.uz. It's free and gives you legal protection if any disputes arise.
  • Check the details: The contract must include passport details for both you and the landlord, the property address, rent amount, lease term, and the security deposit terms (including how you get it back).
  • Know your eviction rights: A landlord cannot just kick you out. Eviction is only possible with a court order for major breaches of the contract (like not paying rent for over 6 months).
  • Keep your documents: Always save a copy of your agreement and the move-in inspection report (property acceptance form).

Important: Not registering the rental agreement can lead to a fine of 1.5 to 3 million soum.
