Youth of Karakalpakstan is Mastering IT Professions

In recent years, the field of information technology has been developing dynamically in our country. Seven years ago, there were 147 IT companies; today, their number has exceeded 2,000. These companies employ 30,000 people in well-paying jobs. More than 70,000 young people are independently engaged in IT.

In the "Uzbekistan - 2030" strategy, it is planned to increase exports in this sector to 5 billion dollars and to provide employment for 300,000 young people. The organization of IT towns has also begun in remote areas.

In particular, the number of IT park residents in Karakalpakstan has tripled compared to the end of last year, reaching 108 people. They have provided jobs for 310 specialists. In the first half of 2024, the volume of services increased by 2.4 times, and the volume of exports by 1.7 times.

Residents have trained and upgraded the skills of 25,000 young people and public servants. As part of the "One Million Programmers" project, 18,000 young people were trained through the online platform in 2023, and 29,000 in the first part of 2024. This year, more than 33,000 are expected to be trained.

These results reflect the conditions that have been created. During his trip to the region in 2021, the head of state ordered the construction of a new building for the IT park. In line with this, a modern 17-story building has been erected in the center of Nukus. It houses IT education and coworking centers, offices, a conference hall, and service offices. The building will also accommodate IT park residents, investors working in the industry, and foreign outsourcing companies.

The fact that the previously opened IT park in a two-story building has now moved to a grand complex indicates the scale of the plans.

The President was presented with information about the work done, results, and plans in the field.

For example, Beknazar Abdikamalov from Karakalpakstan, who previously worked at the American company Amazon, returned to his homeland and attracted $4 million in investment for his startup HUPO. The head of our state spoke with him and supported his initiatives.

The head of state also conversed with IT park residents and specialists working in the information technology sector. After hearing the opinions of the youth, he gave instructions to responsible officials to support their proposals.

"If we implement startups in this field, both the effectiveness of industries will increase, and state expenses will decrease, creating jobs for the youth," said Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

The building also houses a branch of the UZINFOCOM center. The center will train the region's youth in modern professions through the uStudy program. Qualified personnel will be employed in modern companies in their field.

The President emphasized the need to build such multi-story buildings for IT parks in all regions based on public-private partnerships.

"They should have an atmosphere where young people feel free. Let there be everything here for dining, relaxation, sports, and more. The buildings should ideally be located in city centers, in a convenient place for young people," said the head of state.

Instructions were given to link this IT park with schools in the districts of Karakalpakstan, to train youth interested in the field, and to involve them in high-income jobs in the future.
