Today marks the birthday of Zahir-ud-din Muhammad Babur (1483-1530) – a military commander, statesman, and talented poet.
Babur was born in Andijan and was a direct descendant of Tamerlane and Genghis Khan.

Displaying leadership talent from a young age, Babur not only managed to unite different peoples and cultures, but also made a huge contribution to the development of art, architecture, and literature. He was fluent in several languages, wrote poetry in the Turkic language, and left behind the "Baburnama" – a unique historical and literary work that describes the events, culture, and daily life of that time.
Babur's creative legacy is part of the golden fund of world literature and culture, and is a treasure and source of national pride for the people of Uzbekistan.
